A Global Undertaking on Health in Crisis Settings
What concrete actions have you taken in support of the initiative.
Following lessons learned from the Nepal earthquake response and the emerging gap, we developed an initiative called Health Emergency Alliance for South Asian Region (HEAL-SEA) beginning with 6 countries namely, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar & Sri Lanka. 30 delegates/representatives from these countries (mostly CEOs and Network heads of various healthcare networks from the countries) met in March 2018 in India and discussed at length on the need for such an alliance and decided to work toward this alliance with the sole objective to 'save more saveable lives' through a pre-disaster collaborative mechanism in the region among the member institutions or emergency personnel. However, this initiative would require certain commitments from the member institutions and personnel to strengthen its commitments such as: high quality training and region -sensitive capacity building programs; developing database of resources; and networking with other global healthcare agencies like WHO, ICRC, MSF etc.
The report would soon be published and shared in this platform.
