The updates on initiatives shown below allow members or signatories to WHS initiatives to report on actions taken in support of the respective initiative. They are not intended to replace reporting processes undertaken by initiative secretariats.

  • Centre for Humanitarian Data

What concrete actions have you taken in support of the initiative.

    • To support the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX), IOM and OCHA-HDX jointly recruited a Data Management Officer for the new Centre for Humanitarian Data in The Hague during 2017.
    • The purpose of the Data Management Officer is to ensure that DTM data and other migration datasets within IOM are available on the platform to promote accessibility and usage by the broader humanitarian community.
    • During 2018, processes for preparing and uploading datasets to HDX will be piloted and refined, expanding over time to ensure all publicly available DTM datasets are available on the HDX platform.
    • Automated workflows to streamline uploading processes and create more sustainable integration with the HDX platform will also be developed.

  • Grand Bargain

Report on The Grand Bargain Commitments

  • New Way of Working

What concrete actions have you taken in support of the initiative.

The International Organization for Migration's (IOM) 2012 Migration Crisis Operational Framework and 2016 Progressive Resolution of Displacement Situations (PRDS) Framework are strongly aligned with the New Way of Working (NWOW), promoting holistic approaches to migration crises and strong collaboration across a wide range of actors, including Government counterparts. IOM supports the NWOW, drawing from both humanitarian and development spheres, and is committed to ensuring that comprehensively addressing the mobility dimensions of crisis, from prevention to mitigation to solutions, are central to this new approach. Following its active participation in the World Humanitarian Summit and its Grand Bargain commitments to bridge humanitarian and development divides, IOM continues to engage in various fora at the global and country level in discussions on how to operationalize the Humanitarian Development Nexus and the New Way of Working.
