The updates on initiatives shown below allow members or signatories to WHS initiatives to report on actions taken in support of the respective initiative. They are not intended to replace reporting processes undertaken by initiative secretariats.

  • Charter on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action

    What concrete actions have you taken in support of the initiative.

    Denmark endorsed the Charter for Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action on 3 December 2017.

  • DEMAC – Diaspora Emergency Action & Coordination

    What concrete actions have you taken in support of the initiative.

    Denmark supported the Danish Refugee Council's (DRC) Diaspora Programme and involvement in DEMAC and co-financed DEMAC's work on the engagement of diasporas in humanitarian action and development work. With Danish MFA support, the DRC Diaspora Programme supported diaspora-led initiatives in Somalia and Afghanistan and examined the role of the diasporas in mixed migration flows in collaboration with the Regional Mixed Migration Secretariat (RMMS).Through its co-financing to DEMAC, Denmark also contributed to training and capacity-building of diasporas and in this way supported the WHS and Grand Bargain localization commitments.

     

     

  • Education Cannot Wait

    What concrete actions have you taken in support of the initiative.

    Denmark contributed with DKK 104 million to Education Cannot Wait for 2017-2018. Denmark is committed to a comprehensive approach to assist refugees in protracted crisis, including through providing education. Denmark was among the first donor countries to provide strong support for Education Cannot Wait at the World Humanitarian Summit (WHS).

  • New Way of Working

    What concrete actions have you taken in support of the initiative.

    Denmark co-hosted a high-level workshop on the implementation of the New Way of Working (NWOW) in Copenhagen on 13-14 March 2017. The workshop brought together representatives from Member States, multilateral organisations, multilateral development banks (MDBs), bilateral donor agencies, United Nations (UN) entities, teh International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), non-governmental organizations (NGO)-consortia and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and was co-led by Denmark, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank.The workshop focused at rolling out NWOW in Ethiopia, Uganda, Somalia and Yemen, and also showcased efforts at coherent humanitarian-development work in Sudan, Central African Republic, Burkina Faso etc. The workshop highlighted roll-out of the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF) in Ethiopia, Uganda and Lebanon, and explored financing, bridging humanitarian, development and peacebuilding financing mechanisms in fragile and conflict-affected countries.

    Denmark co-organized a Roundtable Meeting on NWOW at the WB Spring Meetings on 22 April 2017 in Washington - together with the WBG, OCHA, UNDP and G7+ countries - on the role of governments in the implementation of NWOW. Denmark supported the NWOW regional multi-stakeholder workshop for Eastern and Southern Africa, held in Entebbe on 30 November - 1 December 2017.                      

  • The Compact for Young People in Humanitarian Action

    What concrete actions have you taken in support of the initiative.

    Denmark joined the Compact for Young People in Humanitarian Action on 18 September 2017. Danish advocacy on inclusion of youth in humanitarian assistance includes the participation of the Danish Minister for Development Cooperation at the UN General Assembly side event ‘High Level Policy Forum on the Role of Young People in the Global Compacts on Refugees and Migration’ in New York 18 September 2017. At the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Humanitarian Affairs Segment (HAS), Denmark together with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) organized the side-event ‘Placing Youth at the Forefront of Humanitarian Action and the 2030 Agenda’ on 22 June 2017.

  • The Global Alliance for Humanitarian Innovation

    What concrete actions have you taken in support of the initiative.

    Denmark contributed 2 million DKK for 2016-2018 to the Global Alliance for Humanitarian Innovation (GAHI) at the WHS and is a member of the GAHI Interim Steering Group. The ambition of GAHI is to achieve higher impact and efficiency through innovation in humanitarian action.
