IHL and IHRL compliance and accountability
In August 2018, Maggie Program travelled to South Cameroon to build 2 Maggie shelter dorms to upgrade the local school Les Lionceaux into a bording school. By doing this, 64 children received access to education. By implementing its humanitarian action, Maggie Program helped the local community in according to IHL concerning child labour and forced mariages on early ages. Providing access to education is also a sustainable approach in giving disadvantaged children a future and a possible escape from poverty.
The Maggie shelters are innovative sustainable structures that are very fast solutions for urgent needs. They are very compact to transport and by filling them with locally available materials like sand, they become long term infrastructures.
2. A. Please select no more than 3 key challenges faced in implementing the commitments related to this transformation. Only the categories selected by the organisation will be seen below.

The Maggie projects are always build in close collaboration with the local community. It took a while to gain the trust of the local community.
3. What steps or actions are needed to make collective progress to achieve this transformation?
More schools.

Maggie Program consists of engineering architects experienced in building infrastructure. With their skills they are able to simplify the standard foundation and building system for infrastructure on site e.g. in Cameroon and save money for the local actor. Also the advantage of short building time (2 weeks) of the Maggie shelters is the decrease in overhead costs because normally building would take 6 or more months in such a remote area. Finally the sustainable solution of the Maggie shelter made this shelter less expensive than a typical fixed infrastructure.
