IHL and IHRL compliance and accountability
Building upon the momentum reached on the occasion of the successful Eastern Ukraine mission in 2017, the Commission explored ways to continue making effective use of its good offices to seek the restoration of an attitude of respect for international humanitarian law. The Commission has also offered its services to States to conduct enquiries into alleged violations of international humanitarian law.
The Commission has also continued its outreach efforts to increase the visibility of the Commission and encourage even more States to recognise its competence according to Article 90 of Protocol Additional I of the Geneva Conventions. During the reporting period, Palestine become the 77th State to recognize the competence of the Commission.
