Strengthening national/local leadership and systems
Al-Khair Foundation (AKF) work with locally registered partners and procure locally. AKF forge partnerships with local councils and governments to implement programmes – our Water programmes are based on detailed local needs assessments, and once completed, they are handed over to local committees for upkeep. AKF programmes across the world are geared towards expanding the capacities and capabilities of local and central government agencies - rather than subsuming or replacing them. AKF field offices employ local recruits - this feeds back into their local economy.

Procurement undertaken at a local level feeds back into the local economy and helps ensure maximum cost efficiencies. Local recruits drive implementation - allowing us to finance, rather than fund, the expansion of local capacities.
