1. A. Highlight concrete actions taken between 1 January – 31 December 2018 to implement the commitments which contribute to achieving this transformation. Be as specific as possible and include any relevant data/figures as well as any good practices and examples of innovation.
Throughout 2018, AISA International NGO continued its efforts to reinforce the concept of “House of Peace” and to launch new ones in other countries.
The House of Peace in Netherlands, organized workshops with schoolchildren on the themes of living together and nature protection, as well as an electoral debate on the theme "Living together in Almere", to promote a life together in peace. In addition to that, Cheikh Bentounes (AISA Int. NGO) and Gunter Pauli (ZERI Foundation) were the main speakers of a conference on sustainable economy and 20 graduate students were invited to present 10 solutions to reach social and sustainable economy by highlighting the importance of circular economy.
The House of Peace took also part in round-table discussions at the Amsterdam Bar with students, the UNESCO and the city on "How can schools contribute to a culture of peace”. A peace that is not limited to the absence of conflict but strengthens the bonds between all citizens and transcends the divisions between ethnicity and culture.
A House of Peace was inaugurated in Murcia (Spain) where AISA International NGO organized a youth seminar on: "Andalusia, Land of Living Together: between myth and reality", with calligraphy works of a Syrian refugee artist sold for the benefit of Syrian refugees. Many other initiatives to promote Culture of Peace & Living Together have been organized in:
- Oran (Algeria), the inauguration of the Great Mosque and the Chapel of Santa Cruz located in the square newly named "Place of Living Together in Peace" following the beatification of 19 Christian religious killed in Algeria in 1996. Christian and Muslim personalities including the Pope’s representative and the Minister of Religious Affairs of Algeria took part, as well as more than 2500 people.
- France, a debate on concrete proposals to prevent radicalization.

B. How are these challenges impacting achievement of this transformation?
AISA International NGO experienced delays due to human resources capacities, and wish to partner with other stakeholders to develop projects worldwide. Algeria, opened 9 Schools of Peace in 2018. In Netherlands, we submitted an official request to the Ministry of National Education,for the opening of the first School of Peace.
3. What steps or actions are needed to make collective progress to achieve this transformation?
More partnering is required, with other NGOs, universities and institutions, sponsors as well as schools.In 2019, AISA International NGO and partners are planning to carry out a pilot experiment of the Culture of Peace and Living Together pedagogy, in 6 primary and secondary schools, in Casablanca. Several other schools in Morocco have also expressed interest in the training.

AISA International commits to mobilize stakeholders to make the International Day of Peace (designated by the UN as 21 September) to be celebrated in cities and countries worldwide, making the day a shared vision of a common destiny and a joint movement recognized at the international level.

AISA International has taken the initiative with the Mediterranean Foundation for Sustainable Development in Algeria and MED 21 program in France to create the EMIR ABD EL KADER award for the promotion of living together and peaceful coexistence around the world.

In 2018, AISA International NGO mobilized stakeholders in several countries to celebrate May 16, the International Day of Living Together in Peace (IDLTP) (A/RES/72/130). AISA organized interfaith walks, workshops, spiritual evenings, with support from partners across several countries, in order to strengthen dialogue, encourage peace and connect people, with major contributions from civilians, institutions, associations & organizations (https://16mai.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/annuaire-jivep-v23.pdf).
The official opening of the celebrations took place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris and was attended by – Mrs. Azoulay, UNESCO General Manager, the Algerian Ambassador in France, many leading figures of the UNESCO Diplomatic Corps, representatives of different religions, the Honorary President of AISA International NGO, Cheikh Bentounes and the Muslim Scouts of France (MSF). This event enabled 20 young people from various cultural and social backgrounds to express their desire to "live together".
In Mostaganem (Algeria), more than 2,000 people from several countries, 900 of them school-aged children, gathered for a walk of peace. In Oran, a conference on IDLTP took place at the Claverie Center, where Muslims and Christians get together.
In Toulouse (France), the “village pour Vivre-Ensemble”, organized by 30 associations and partners including AISA Int. NGO, allowed young school children to experiment Living Together in Peace, through many activities.
In Paris (France), The MSF participated in the ceremony of the lighting of the Flame of the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe, as an emblem of hope. They marked the occasion with a day of reflection and remembrance. A recital in honour of Emir Abd el-Kader also took place, in the Church of Notre-Dame d’Espérance. The Emir is an inspiring symbol for the East-West rapprochement and embodies the values of living together. As a universal model for young people, he inspired a number of initiatives led by AISA International NGO, in partnership with FONDAPOL, the MSF and the Islam de France Foundation. The Emir Abdelkader exhibition was presented in several schools in France.

Challenge in mobilizing stakeholders in different countries to organize the celebration of May 16. Better communications through different channels will be required.

A Charter will be distributed to all stakeholders to guide them through the process in creating local and regional committees to celebrate May 16, the International Day of Living Together in Peace. The next celebration will involve more youth from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
