When working with national alliances the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) avoids acting as a source of resources, focusing instead on recognizing local assets and developing creatively from local resources. Further, WEA teaches that external assets can have a corrupting effect on local institutions, best avoided by using external assets in ways that do not create long term dependence.
In 2017 WEA convened groups in many Global South countries where we taught methods for recognizing local assets and how to build upon them.
