Take concrete steps to improve compliance and accountability

Individual Commitment

  • What led your organization to make the commitment?

    Webster University Geneva wanted new, more practical postgraduate education; an educational model change. We designed a new curriculum focused on managing, understanding and upholding International Humanitarian Emergencies, Human Rights and Human Security.

  • Achievements at a glance

    We could create a new MAINGO (MA in International and Nongovernmental Education) aimed at mid-career professionals and officials in both the public and private sector as well as NGOs. We also created new graduate courses on Food and Water Security and International Disaster Law.

  • How is your organization assessing progress

    Through the increasing number of students interested in our graduate program and in our executive education certificates.

  • Challenges faced in implementation

    Budget, advertising campaign and fundraising for new permanent faculty positions.

  • Next step to advance implementation in 2017

    More students and more funding.

Individual Commitment

  • What led your organization to make the commitment?

    We wanted to brown our knees in the field and try to organize more internships and field trips for our students. Matching theory with practice is of paramount importance for our Global Citizenship Program. The latter aims at educating modern citizens and responsible humanitarian actors.

  • Achievements at a glance

    Higher involvement of the Webster Humanitarian Association (WHA), a student-run, campus-based NGO, in all Human Rights-related activities of our Department including the organization of the annual Humanitarian Conference. The latter has been organized in cooperation with the ICRC and the UNHCR for about twenty years.

  • How is your organization assessing progress

    Number of students volunteering for the annual Humanitarian Conference. Number of certificates in Migration and Refugee Studies.

  • Challenges faced in implementation

    Lower budget, donors' motivation, new permanent faculty.

  • Next step to advance implementation in 2017

    Higher budget and new permanent faculty.
