Self Report for Initiatives in 2018

The updates on initiatives shown below allow members or signatories to WHS initiatives to report on actions taken in support of the respective initiative. They are not intended to replace reporting processes undertaken by initiative secretariats.

  • Charter for Faith-based Humanitarian Action

    What concrete actions have you taken in support of the initiative.

    The Joint Learning Initiative on Faith and Local Communities (JLI) co hosted the Localizing Response to Humanitarian Need Forum with 142 participants representing multiple local and global faith networks, faith-based organizations, aid agencies, policy makers, and government representatives to strengthen partnership and networks in localizing humanitarian response.

    Working Areas included:

    • Children & Health,

    • Conflict & Peacemaking,

    • Disaster response,

    • Disaster risk reduction and resilience,

    • Refugees & Forced Migration,

    • Gender-based Violence

    Key Findings across all working areas:

    • Capacity strengthening could be facilitated by two-way literacy training to learn more about the local context through Local Faith Actors (LFAs) and LFAs can learn more about humanitarian principles and standards through International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs), the development of guidance tools and efforts to build a greater understanding and develop mutual relationships.
    • need for increased evidence on LFAs role and communication of it.

    Advocacy Working Group: focus on advocacy efforts to increase engagement of local faith actors in humanitarian response. Aligning efforts through a joint calendar online.
