Core Commitment

  • What led your organization to make the commitment?

Sumitomo Chemical and the UN Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign partnership helped to build empathy and awareness for refugees throughout the year, and maximize grass-roots donations to provide life-saving bednets to vulnerable refugee populations in malaria-endemic areas. Nothing But Nets' VR film, "Under the Net", won Best Documentary VR at the Cinequest Film Festival.

  • How is your organization assessing progress

We assess progress based on the actual net deliveries by UN partners, which are proceeding on schedule.

  • Challenges faced in implementation

It was time-consuming to work out the logistics in 2016. In 2017, we streamlined the processes and have improved our delivery mechanisms.

  • Next step to advance implementation in 2017

Deliveries are underway for 2017 commitments.

  • If you had one message for the annual report on what is most needed to advance the transformation 'Reduce and address displacement', what would it be

Building empathy for refugee populations in the current political climate is an ongoing challenge, but essential to increase the political will and resources that are needed.
